Making our community a better place to live, work, play and visit

Canal History Walk

This popular event took place on Thursday 23rd and Saturday 25th March with 25 walkers in total. Richard shared fascinating information and there were lots of questions too. Many thanks to Richard for sharing and to all the people who came along.

You are invited to join our Canal History Walk on Thursday 23rd March 2023 departing at 10am.

Richard from Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust will join our Canalside Walking group, where our walk will include some fascinating information about where the canal and bridges were in the past.  Our route will include streets and landmarks in Fountainbridge as well as the canal.  Come and try something different, step back into history and imagine our surroundings as they once were!

Please wrap up well to enjoy the walk whatever the weather, we will be walking, looking and wondering for about an hour with the option of staying to share some refreshments afterwards.  The walk is free, donations towards refreshments are optional.

Meet at Fountainbridge Square, EH3 9QB (where the swan sculptures are at the end of the canal). Round the corner from Tesco Fountainbridge, near bus 1,34,35

For more information or to register your interest in the walk contact fiona@fcct.scot or 07706580147  https://www.fcct.scot/health-walks/

If you are not free on Thursday to join the walking group, we are planning to offer the Canal History Walk again on Saturday 25th March for members of the public departing from the Leamington Lift Bridge (EH3 9NY) at 1pm.
