Walking with Strength and Balance
Gentle Walking Group with Strength and Balance Movements
Suitable for those with long term health conditions, older adults or anybody wanting gentle exercise in a friendly environment.
30-40 mins of activity with rest in a beautiful canalside space followed by refreshments and a social time
Meeting and moving in an Indoor canalside space with a short outdoor walk in good weather
Tuesdays 2pm
Free of charge
Tea/coffee/ fruit/ shortbread at the end of the session
Open to all ages of adults

About Our Hosts
Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust have been walking weekly in the local area for nearly 4 years, we have a dementia friendly walk and a buggy walk. This strength and balance group will suit those who are keen to do strength and balance exercises to keep them walking or to get back in to walking. Find out more about our Thursday walk here
About our Facilitators
Kim from Jump Edinburgh has been working with our community groups for about 4 years, she makes movement fun and joyful and brings experience in senior fitness and working with those with long term health conditions.

FAQs
Do I need specialist equipment? Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and bring an outdoor jacket suitable for the weather, any other equipment will be provided.
Are there toilets at the venue? Yes there is an accessible toilet which is available throughout the indoor session, outdoor walk will be of a short duration.
I use a walking aid/ stick can I participate? Yes, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for the access lift or ramp to our indoor venue.
I use a wheel chair, can I participate? Yes, there are many of the movements that could be of benefit to you with adaptation. please let us know in advance so we can arrange for the access lift or ramp to our indoor venue.
Do I need to be a member of North Merchiston Club to attend sessions there? no, all welcome.
Will the sessions continue after this block of four? yes we are planning weekly sessions Tuesdays at 2pm but future blocks may be in different locations near the canal. Please check this website and our newsletter for details of the next block.
Is this group only for seniors? no, all ages of adults are welcome, it would be particularly suitable for those with long term health conditions or who are looking for gentler exercise in a friendly group.
Is the group open to men and women? yes, our Buggy walk and Canalside Walking Group have women and men in the groups and we hope that walking with Strength and Balance will too.
