Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust (FCCT) is delighted to be organising the Edinburgh Canal Festival on
Saturday 21st June 2025 from 12noon to 5pm
The Edinburgh Canal Festival has been running since 2009 and, while previously only based in the Lochrin Basin, following our trial event in 2022, the event is now organized as a community doors open day promoting an afternoon of canal festivities along over 1 mile of the Union Canal from Lochrin Basin to Harrison Park.
The aim of the Festival is to encourage the community to explore local places, build relationships with local groups and celebrate the amazing offers along the canal.
If you’d like to be involved in 2025, now is the time to put yourself forward!
Musicians and Performers
We love to have live musical acts and performances which we think brings a fantastic vibrancy to the event and increases the enjoyment of those attending. As a community run festival which is free to attend, there’s no official fee for performing. We aim to give a contribution towards your expenses (around £50 per group), and musicians are welcome to also put out a hat and/or promote and sell their music.

Community Stall Holders
Since Edinburgh Canal Festival is a purely non-profit festival, and we only hold a non-commerical licence for this event, any community of social enterprise stalls must ensure that 100% of any profits are used to support a charity or community group (i.e. your own, if you are a not for profit group). Due to our organisation’s funding, we are also not able to accommodate political causes.

Volunteers
This festival does not run itself! We rely on a team of happy volunteers for tasks before the event and particularly on the day. Volunteers receive a free t-short and yummy snacks! the festival is run over 5 hours, volunteer shifts are for half this time, to also give you time to enjoy the event as a festival go-er!
