Making our community a better place to live, work, play and visit

Dementia Friends

Our 6 trained volunteer health walk leaders, joined by walking group members, other volunteers, staff and members of our community participated in an engaging Dementia Friends Session on Thursday 12th Feb 2026.

It was brilliant to have such a good uptake and places were oversubscribed. If you or another member of our community would like to attend a future session please let Fiona know.

We are delighted that Caroline our local Dementia Advisor will be joining us after our Thursday health walk on Thursday 12th February 2026 for a Dementia Friends session.

Our walking group is pleased to be Dementia Friendly accredited with the Scottish Health Walk Network and this partnership with Alzheimers Scotland is helping to increase understanding and reduce stigma about dementia.

Many thanks to Alzheimers Scotland for providing the training and to Tollcross Community Centre for providing the room free of charge in recognition of the importance of being a dementia friendly community.

Thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund for supporting our Volunteer development.
