Programme

1-4pm Foraging Discovery Space, drop-in information, all-age creative activity, foraged tea-making possibilities and welcome desk for our two walks.  (booking is recommended for the walks as places are limited) choose either walk or both or the whole event.

1.15-2.15 pm Nature Discovery Walk with Aisling.

meet at North Merchiston Club and join Aisling to discover the plants and animals on our doorstep in and around Harrison Park.  

2.30-3.30pm. Creative Foraging Walk with Johanna.

meet at North Merchiston Club and join Johanna as she shares her foraging and artistic skills

Our gentle walks take place on good paths and level surfaces, suitable for buggies and all-ages,  There may be stops on the way for discovery and creativity, please dress warmly enough for sitting.

9am-3pm Café 48 will be open for lunches and delicious treats at very reasonable prices.

About our guides

Aisling Murphy originally trained as a nurse and has worked in social care. She has been a freelance gardener since 2016 and a wellness nature guide more recently. She enjoys connecting people with nature and seeing the physical and mental health benefits this brings them. 

Johanna Koen, Johanna is a community gardener and wildcrafter. She works as a nature educator and facilitates reciprocal foraging and gardening session in the city.  www.foraging-gardener.com/

About our Hosts

The North Merchiston Club, first established in 1921, exists to serve local people and families, groups and communities living within Edinburgh. We operate from our community centre at Watson Crescent.  We help improve physical health and mental well-being within our local communities through active participation in sports and recreational activities.   www.northmerchiston.co.uk

Fountainbridge Canalside Community Trust www.fcct.scot are a member led organisation making our local area a better place to live, work, do business and visit.  The Canalside Greenspace Group is one of our weekly projects, helping to explore and improve our local public greenspaces, group members will be on hand to guide you as you discover and share more about our local greenspaces.
